We started the hike from the Wahclella Falls Trailhead. Instead of getting on the Wahclella Falls trail, you cross the bridge heading west. The trail runs along I-84 for about a mile until you reach trail #400 which is when you start to gain elevation. This trail enters the forest and, at first, climb gradually, but the trail gets steeper and steeper as you go.
After our hike, we drove to Hood River and had pizza and beer at, you guessed it, Double Mountain.
The Hike:
Elevation: 2,270'
Distance: 6 miles RT
