The worst part of it all is that you think to yourself while you're up there, "Well I did it! The worst is over." It's not. After you have climbed 5,000 feet your quadriceps are done. You sort of need your quadriceps to descend a mountain. I remember feeling like I had a neurological disorder which made my knees hyper extend uncontrollably with each step. And my feet. Oh my god my feet hurt. About halfway down I had lost it mentally. I had a tear in my eye and Aaron saw it. He knew exactly how to snap me out of it. He gave me a pep talk like a sort-of mean high school basketball coach. The tear never touched my cheek and we made it to the bottom of the mountain. Never again.
